It's been a long and busy season at the Victoria Playhouse, but all good things must come to an end. Since my last entry about the amazing Ben Vereen's show, I've had the honour of playing in 3 other productions during the season. The first was "From the Heart: Women of Country", starring (left to right in photo) Stacey Kay, Allison Mang, Elicia Mackenzie, Callandra Dendias, Leah Grandmont, and Adele Mackenzie. In the band, (left to right) was Mark Laidman (bass), myself (drums), Mark Payne (Musical Director/piano), Randy Rektor (Guitar), and Dee Klinger (Guitar - not shown). The show ran from July 7th - 26th.
Next up was our fabulous Music Director, Mark Payne, in his solo show "I Love A Piano". Mark demonstrated his monstrous playing in almost every genre imaginable, with the band backing him up on key numbers. He also had special guests Mark-Anthony Del Brocco (piano/keys), Stephanie Roth (guest singer), and Janet MacEwan (guest singer). Also in the band were myself and Mark Laidman (bass). The show ran for 1 week in August, and was extended for 3 additional shows to sold out audiences!
The final show of the 2015 season was "The Fiddler and the Crooner" starring Jesse Grandmont, Michael Vanhevel, and Jennifer Walls. In the band was Dee Klinger (Guitar), myself (drums), Mark Payne (MD), Tony De Luca (Sax/Clarinet/Flute), and Randy Rektor (Bass). This was a true variety show, and was by far the wackiest show of the season! Filled with fiddle music, classical violin, Sinatra standards, Simon and Garfunkel, comedy sketches, and the priceless impersonations of Jennifer Walls (Liza Minelli, Celine Dione, Cher, Barbra Streisand, just to name a few). The show ran from September 9th - 27th.
Another season gone! This theatre is full of extremely talented and hard working people, and I look forward to it every single day. Thanks to everyone for the great times, and the wonderful opportunity to work with such amazing people, on such amazing creations!
Now, back into the drum cave!
